A Chiswick fire fighter is a world champion after being part of a team that won in the Trauma category at the recent World Rescue Challenge in South Africa.

Chris Churchill won alongside Heston station’s Steve White and the team was train by Station Manager Lucy Macleod-Cook.

Competing as London 1, the pair fought off competition from all over the world including Team Blackheart Miami Dade F&R from the US and BV Concordia Bravo from Brazil.

The World Rescue Organisation (WRO) is a not for profit organisation and a registered charity which was created to assist with the dissemination of emergency rescue and medical techniques, practices and procedures to aid the effective management of Road Traffic Collisions and the care of those involved. The application of such knowledge can save lives and dramatically improve long term outcomes.

The WRO draws on the experience of its member organisations and their partners to develop national bodies, the rescue challenge concept and produce training programmes and initiatives that assist rescue and medical crews whilst working in the post-crash environment.
