Eight people had to be rescued from a block of flats in Chiswick this weekend after a fire broke out.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus led them from the upper floors of the building on Edensor Road when the blaze took hold in an electrical intake room on the ground floor. Two women were treated at the scene after suffering from smoke inhalation.

Five fire engines and around 35 firefighters attended at 3.02pm on Saturday 15 August. They had the fire under control by 4.25pm. . Fire crews from Lambeth, Chelsea, Soho and Clapham fire stations attended the scene.

The Brigade’s Fire Investigators believe the fire was accidental and involved an electrical installation.
