The footbridge at Hardwicke Road which links Bridge Street and Belmont Road to Acton Green did not reopen in mid-August as originally promised.

Transport for London (TfL) say they completed the work on schedule and have wound down the construction site that was the base for work to stabilise the embankment between Chiswick Park and Turnham Green. This project had led to the closure of the footbridge since last December.

Hardwicke Road Footbridge Reopening

TfL now say that the footbridge has not reopened because Ealing Council are carrying out improvement works including new lighting .

We contacted Ealing Council to confirm the date on which the footbridge would reopen and ask why this work was not undertaken at the same time as the TfL project but we have yet to receive a reply.

The original public notice for the work stated that the project would be completed by May of this year but signs were posted around the site giving August as the likely completion date. The TfL project took longer than originally intended following complaints from local residents about noise which reduced the amount of work that could take place at night
