The footbridge at Hardwicke Road which links Bridge Street and Belmont Road to Acton Green is scheduled to open before the end of the month, according to Ealing Council.

A spokesperson said new lighting would be installed next week. The bridge would reopen when all the work was finished, before the end of the month.

The footbridge which had been closed since last December, was scheduled to open in mid-August. TfL had blamed Ealing Council for the delay.

Hardwicke Road Footbridge Reopening

Transport for London (TfL) had said they completed the work on schedule and had wound down the construction site that was the base for work to stabilise the embankment between Chiswick Park and Turnham Green. They said the delay was because Ealing Council are carrying out improvement works including new lighting .

In a statement to chiswickw4.com Ealing Council said: "New lights will be installed on the path leading to the footbridge next week. The bridge is expected to reopen later this month once all the works have been completed."

The original public notice for the work stated that the project would be completed by May of this year but signs were posted around the site giving August as the likely completion date. The TfL project took longer than originally intended following complaints from local residents about noise which reduced the amount of work that could take place at night
