Chiswick residents have been concerned about the sudden disappearance of the wildflower meadow on Turnham Green.

The answer is cock up rather than conspiracy. Hounslow’s Greenspace 360, mistakenly mowed the wildflower planted area earlier this month.

Members of the Landscape Committee, Friends of Turnham Green sat that they are assured that the wildflower meadow will recover, but should now flower somewhat later this year. The good news is that the wildflower area on the south west side of the green has been looking lovely this spring as shown in the photo below.

A spokesperson on behalf of the members said, “Others have been asking about the weeding of the rockery area - much loved and well used by the local community. Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, the Friends group who usually weed and plant this area, have not yet been given the permission by the Hounslow parks department to start work on this area. As soon as permission has been received, volunteers will be out there like a shot! Meanwhile, a discreet amount of weeding has been achieved on the herb knot garden, sited just south of Christ Church – do take a look as the lavender is looking wonderful at present”.
