Foubert's Opens Branch in Former Toilet Block in Fulham
Chiswick long-established gelateria and café expanding

Foubert’s have opened a new gelateria and café in a former toilet block in Fulham.
Their second branch is now serving at 2 Vanston Place, on the corner of Walham Grove and North End Road.
The building is on the site of Fulham's famous old Victorian toilets, which were auctioned off 2012. The building has stood empty ever since, and the opening of the gelateria has been long awaited by local ice cream fans.
Chiswick residents already know Foubert's from its long established presence in Chiswick where the Lo Dico family have been selling their homemade Italian ice-cream and cappuccinos for over four decades. Now based on Turnham Green Terrace they were originally on the Chiswick High Road, they sold their former premises to the Soho House group who opened High Road at the location. Before that they were in Carnaby Street for many years.
Owner Luciano Lo Dico says, " We are delighted to be opening our new gelateria and cafe in Fulham and look forward to welcoming the local residents and businesses.
"We have 20 flavours of ice-cream on offer, from the classics of Tutti Frutti to our new winter flavour, Cinnamon.
"And our coffee is one of the best Italian coffees on the market, supplied by 'Caffe Vergnano 1882', voted the best by Time Out."
There's a unique roof terrace on the first floor, above the hubbub of the North End Road. The roof terrace is taking shape at moment, and will be opening soon for customers to sip double espressos under crisp blue winter skies.
As to why open a gelateria in November, Luciano says: " It's the best time of year for ice-cream, as it melts more slowly!"
The original Walham Green Toilets, which had stood on the site since Victorian times, were first auctioned by H&F Council in 2008.
Despite its dilapidated state the building sold for £403,000 - four times the amount expected by the council. However, it then stood empty until being auctioned again in 2013, and this time was bought by Mr Lo Dico for £585,000.
