Chiswick residents have been recognised for outstanding services in their field in the Queen's 2006 New Year's Honours list.

Baron Sebastian Newbold Coe, OBE and Chair of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Bid Team, who was born in Chiswick, has been made a Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire for his services to sport. 

Ms Rebecca Margaret Bower Head of Finance at The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew has been made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for her services to Horticulture.

The Most Venerable Medagama Varjiragnana Head of The London Buddhist Vihara has also been made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his services to Inter-faith Relations.
