The black four-wheel drive got stuck this afternoon (21 August) and four fire engines participated in the rescue attempt.

Firefighters used mud paths to reach the stranded driver and passenger and safely bring them back to dry land.

Station Manager Gareth Cook said: “It appears that the driver wanted to show off his new car but got into trouble when his four wheel drive got stuck in mud. We safely rescued the pair and the car was recovered by a road recovery service.

“The incident shows that it’s not just fires that we deal with and our advice to anyone deciding to go off road is to make sure they check their vehicle can deal with the terrain.”
