London Mayor joins local MP on her campaign trail in Brentford

Mary Macleod was joined on her campaign trail on Wednesday by the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson. He stopped first at Brentford High Street to see how some of the money from his Outer London Fund has been spent creating the new marketplace.

He also had the chance to meet some key community leaders from Brentford including representatives from the Brentford High Street Action Group, Brentford Football Club and the Community Sports Trust, Brentford Chamber of Commerce as well as several local businesses and residents.

Boris was particularly keen to visit The Weir Pub and Dining Room, where the famous painter JMW Turner lived for a year in 1785. He also visited the Brentford Football Club Community Sports Trust to lend his support to the multi-sport Brentford Challenge event taking place on Sunday 10th May at Brentford Lock and Syon Park.

After a long day out on the road, Boris enjoyed a pint of London Pride at newly-opened Fuller’s pub One over the Ait in Brentford.

Mary added: “It was great to have Boris join me today and show him that Brentford is brilliant. He has done an excellent job so far as Mayor of London and is admired by people wherever he goes – regardless of which party they vote for. I have enjoyed working with him on campaigns like getting the Piccadilly line to stop at Turnham Green and making sure that Heathrow gets “better not bigger” and I hope to continue to do so if re-elected in May.”
