Hounslow’s Mayor, Cllr Felicity Barwood, has chosen two local charities to support during her mayoralty.

To mark the decision, Cllr Barwood paid an official visit to St Mary’s Convent and Nursing Home in Chiswick, one of the good causes that will benefit from her support.

She spent time talking to residents and staff at the home that has been run by The Anglican Sisters of Saint Margaret for over 100 years.

The home offers a calm and caring environment for elderly people who need long-term care.

During her visit, the Mayor was shown how the home has been converted to conform to new regulations following a £1.8m fundraising drive.

The Mayor’s support will help raise further funds which are needed to bring the home’s older, self-contained units up to the same high standard.

Cllr Barwood said “I am delighted to have chosen St Mary’s Nursing Home as one of my charities for this year. It is an excellent facility and I fully support the service that the staff provide for elderly people in the borough.”
