Hartwsood Tennis Club is hosting a fundraising event next Saturday 4th July, raising money for Chiswick-based international development charity, the MicroLoan Foundation.

The event, a sponsored ‘Around-the-world-athon’ for juniors, is a great chance for people to improve their tennis whilst also raising money to enable some of the poorest women in Africa to set up their own businesses. The women use the profits from their businesses to feed, clothe and educate their families, enabling them to work their own way out of poverty and build sustainable livelihoods.

Hartswood tennis club, which is in its 40th year of fundraising, donated £3,000 to the MicroLoan Foundation last year, and the club is hoping to improve on this figure next weekend. The auction prize, two tickets to the Barclays ATP Masters Tennis Tournament at the O2 arena in November, is expected to attract significant interest.

The tennis challenge takes place from 11am-1pm at Hartswood Tennis Club, Hartswood Road. The person who raises the most money will receive an Ipod for their efforts, and the event will be followed by a barbecue, auction, raffle and cake sale.

For more information about the event, contact Mahmuda Jafarey at Hartswood Tennis Club on 07813 163 430 or email mahmudajafarey@hotmail.com
