The MicroLoan Foundation has welcomed Michael McGrath to their team as the new Head of Fundraising at the international development charity.

Michael is a qualified fundraising manager having worked in the voluntary sector since 2001 both in the UK and on development projects in Africa. He has considerable fundraising experience ranging from time spent as a street fundraiser in London, raising money in various voluntary capacities, to managing the entire fundraising function of a national UK charity.

He joins the MicroLoan Foundation after spending six years as Manager of the Universal Beneficent Society (UBS), a charity helping older people in the UK, during which Michael spent much of his vacation time in developing African countries working on educational projects in remote rural areas.

In his new post he will be focusing on developing the immense potential of the MicroLoan Foundation’s fundraising department across all donor levels in order to facilitate the charity’s expansion in countries such as Malawi, Zambia, Namibia and Mozambique.

Michael said, ”I am extremely excited about joining this dynamic and far-reaching charity, which delivers such cutting-edge and sustainable projects in the developing world that enable people to work their own way out of the poverty trap. I am very much looking forward to playing my part in taking the MicroLoan Foundation forward in the coming years.”
