The future of Persian restaurant Rice has been secured following the rejection of an application to develop the parade of shops in which they were located.

Yupa's Thai, which is moving to Grove Park, shut up shop at the location when the development was announced but a spokesman for Rice said: "We're still open and intend to be for years to come. We never closed, the reports were incorrect, and in fact we're extending our delivery service to customers outside the Chiswick area at the moment."

The family-run restaurant also owns Catch fish and chip shop.

The threat to businesses nearby appears to have receded as an application for a development of flats has been turned down by Hounslow Council. Domino Pizza and Post Box shop are also located there.

The application was to demolish 309-317 Chiswick High Road and erect a five-storey building with residential units.

The building was to provide 21 units, six one-bedroom, thirteen two-bedroom and two three-bedroom units. Commercial space and a basement car-park were also planned.
