A four-storey residential development of four two-bed flats and two one-bed flats, with retail space at ground level, is planned for 8, Essex Place (opposite the Sainsbury's entrance).

This is unconnected with the nearby Lendlease development in the area which has been stalled for several months.

A planning application has been lodged with Hounslow Council for demolition of an existing mixed-use building and redevelopment of the site to provide a four storey, mixed-use building with offices (B1) on the ground floor and six flats (C3) on the upper floors with associated bins and cycle stores.

The site is currently used as a studio that specialises in pottery themed
parties. The application states that the buildings are in a poor state of repair and could not be considered for many other commercial or residential uses.

The proposal will be lower in height than the Chiswick High Road buildings, and the Sainsbury’s supermarket directly opposite.

Despite the unexplained stoppage of work on the Lendlease scheme, there are other developments being attempted. Apart from this one, there is currently a planning application to build residential apartments in the Daniel Beds shop and Carpetright.
