Hounslow Council planners have referred an application to erect a fourth floor on a building on Burlington Lane next to the Hogarth Flyover back to the planning committee.

Although the council officers could find no reason why the proposal should not be given the go ahead, due to the number of objections that had been made, the plan is to be discussed at a borough planning meeting with councillors making the final decision.

The scheme at Axis House and 1 Burlington Lane would result in the addition of nine extra flats (3 three bedroom and 6 two bedroom) as well as roof terraces and the erection of a walkway at roof level. The rest of the building is already set to be converted from office space into housing.

Objections were received on the basis of the limited access to the site and increased parking issues due to the over densification of population in the area. The additional height of the building would impede views and it was felt by some that it would cause harm to conservation areas. It was also argued that the cladding and finishes were out of keeping with the surrounding area including the Chiswick Gate development and the Chiswick House Conservation Area.

The planning officers found that the development would cause no harm to the appearance of the site or the surrounding conservation areas.
