West London friendly society the Oddfellows, have presented a cheque to the RNLI Thames for the sum of £1,000 this month.

Station Manager Wayne Bellamy from the RNLI Chiswick Lifeboat Station gave a talk on the work they do on the Thames. Afterwards, West London Chairman, Heather Pearman, presented Wayne with the £1,000 donation.

Commenting on the donation, Heather said, “The links between the Oddfellows and the RNLI go way back – we’ve supported them since 1868. The selfless bravery shown by their crews is extraordinary. We hope to continue to raise funds for RNLI Chiswick in the future.”

Wayne Bellamy thanked Heather, saying, “I was delighted to share some background about our work with the Oddfellows and was taken by surprise when they presented me with the cheque! We are most grateful for the donation which will help us to renew vital equipment.”

95 per cent of the RNLI’s total income comes from donations and legacies, which is depended on by its volunteers and supporters to deliver their life-saving services.
