"Thames Water have apologised for their neglect of the pipes which flooded Staveley Gardens with raw sewage," Cllr John Todd told ChiswickW4.com.

"A senior member of Thames Water will be attending the next Chiswick Area Committee meeting where residents and Councillors can receive answers to questions.

"In addition Thames Water plan to clean sewer thoroughly and place camera in the pipes to identify any other problems. To do this they need to access manhole in the playing field belonging to King's College - as a result, this is planned for half-term (21-24 Feb) to minimise disruption."

In the meantime, as a precaution, Thames Water have said that they will check sewer every couple of days and pump if necessary.

The news has been welcomed by Staveley Gardens Residents' Association.
