TfL has closed the flyover at the Hogarth Roundabout in Chiswick as it has been declared "unsafe".

During an inspection following the high winds, TfL inspectors discovered defects and decided to close the flyover pending further investigations today (Oct 29).

A statement from Garrett Emmerson, Chief Operating Officer for Surface Transport, at TfL said: "During routine inspection works of the Hogarth Flyover following yesterday's stormy weather, our engineers identified a degradation in the concrete road deck which forms part of the flyover's structure.

"This has required us to close it while we carry out further inspections this morning.

"Traffic is being diverted via the Hogarth roundabout which runs underneath the flyover."

Reports suggest that traffic is slow moving westbound along the A 316 and queues have formed as far as the Hammersmith flyover junction.
