The potholes in Cavendish Road, in Grove Park are so large that they are practically 'joined up' a resident complained to the Chiswick Area Forum (CAF) last week.

He told councillors that they were dangerous for cyclists who could lose a wheel and be injured.

"I cannot understand how these holes have grown so large and not been attended to", he commented.

Councillor Sam Hearn said that the problem was worse on one half of the road (from the junction with Bolton Road to Hartington Road), as Hounslow Highways had carried out some filling in the other section of the road which was used by buses. He said that the Overview and Scrutiny Panel had offered to share its formula for deciding which roads should be worked on.

There were several other areas in Chiswick with potholes, including Chiswick Village and Alexandra Gardens, the meeting heard.

Councillors agreed that they should continue to lobby on the pothole problem in Chiswick and that Cavendish Road needed urgent attention.
