Emergency works by Thames Water on the A316 Burlington Lane have led to traffic chaos in the Chiswick area.

The road is closed northbound by Paxton Road just before it reaches Hogarth Roundabout. Southbound lane restrictions also in place.

Thames Water say that a 3 inch diameter pipe needed to be dug up and repaired but there is no impact on local water supplies. After initial reports suggested the work may not have been completed until Friday it is now expected that the road will reopen on Sunday (5 March).

Congestion has been reported through the area. Traffic is slow westbound on the A4 between Hammersmith Flyover and Sutton Court Road in Chiswick.

Bus 190 is on diversion via Staveley Road and Burlington Lane returning to line of route Chiswick High Road via Heathfield Terrace.
