Local residents are being issued with PCNs for parking on a line straddling resident's parking bays.

The problem is particularly acute on Airedale Avenue and Netheravon Road.

One local said: "I received a PCN on Airedale Avenue for parking over a ‘line’ The line intersects two, long undivided bays and the sign indicates that if you have a residents permit, you can park in either bay.

"Hounslow council have argued that the PCN was issued “to stop a knock-on effect of further cars parking incorrectly, reducing the available parking space even more”.

"That may be a valid reason for enforcement of single-vehicle spaces, but these are undivided long bays. By not being able to park over the line it is making the car parking on our road even more restricted. Moreover the sign does not say you can’t straddle the line. I want to make other people aware of this so that they don’t fall into the same trap as me."

Another local in Netheravon Road received a similar fine..

The driver believes that signs make it clear that both bays are available for use, as a resident permit holder.

The PCN was issued as "Not parked correctly within the markings of the bay or space."

Local councillor John Todd says the configuration of the bays for residents is confusing.
