Local Councillor John Todd has described the potholes in several Chiswick streets, particularly Windmill Road, as monstrous.

"I have never seen such a deep dangerous pothole as the one in Windmill Road, which I immediately reported to London Borough of Hounslow. Cyclists particularly, are in danger," he commented.

He also cited Brackley Road, where he said both he and local residents had complained on a number of occasions to Hounslow Highways (HH) about the fragmented road surface and current series of potholes.

"The response was bland and unhelpful. I've now asked the client side of Hounslow Council to intervene. The issue in both cases is why the road inspectors fail to identify this danger and get prompt remedial work. At the Chiswick Area Forum they continue to argue from an eight page guide as to the pothole depth criteria before initiating remedial work."

Some weeks ago chiswickw4.com highlighted the size of the potholes in Cavendish Road, Grove Park, where potholes on one half of the street (the half used by the 272 buses) were filled in, while those on the other half (leading to Hartington Road) were not.

Recently Hounslow Council issued a press release declaring that it had carried out a successful programme of resurfacing and filling in potholes across the borough.

You are welcome to send in photographs of the potholes in your own street to editor@chiswickw4.com.
