Chiswick High Road was closed to traffic in both directions due to a subsidence in the carriageway between Duke's Avenue and Duke Road. The road has now reopened after being shut for most of Monday.

Westbound traffic was being diverted via Bourne Place which was converted to westbound one-way operation with traffic turning left into Duke Road, then right in Bourne Place (behind Zizzi's), right into Dukes Avenue, and left on to the High Road again.

Eastbound traffic was diverted via Dolman Road.

According to one of the workmen at the site the subsidence was caused by the collapse of a sewer inspection shaft.
