Residents Reminded To Get Exemption from Staveley Road Restrictions
New measure becomes operational later this month
Signs are up already for new Staveley Road restrictions
Residents of the area around Staveley Road are being reminded to apply for an exemption to the restrictions due to be implemented on the road on Monday 24 January.
Staveley Road east of Burlington Lane and Hartington Road will both have the same operational hours of 8am-7pm Monday-Saturday once the schemes go live. Previously this stretch of Staveley Road was part of a school street programme which had more limited hours of operation and was only in place during term time.
Burlington Lane will be exit only except for pedal bikes onto the A316 at all times.
The Grove Park Primary and Cavendish School Schemes will retain the same restricted hours as currently in place.
Hounslow Council will be issuing exemptions from Monday 10 January to residents in certain parking zones west of the A316 and those Chiswick residents living east of the A316.
All residents and businesses within the ‘Fauconberg Road’ and the ‘Grove Park residents’ CPZ controlled parking zones (CPZ) will be eligible for exemption as well as all residents living on the roads east of the A316, between and including Boston Gardens to the north, and Riverside Drive (to the south). This includes Staveley Road allotment holders and residents of St Mary’s Convent Nursing Home
In addition some other groups such as GPs, pharmacists and ‘disability carers’ will be exempt. We asked Hounslow Council for the criteria to be used to allocate exemptions and a spokesperson responded that this would become apparent during the application process.
Visitors, delivery drivers and Blue Badge holders (other than those needing access to Chiswick School) will not be exempt.
The Staveley Road restrictions have been introduced as part of the council’s Streetspace programme. It is being implemented as a trial measure using Experimental Traffic Management Orders (ETMOs) which means that feedback will be collected as the trial proceeds.
Hounslow Council Cabinet Member for Transport, Councillor Hanif Khan, said, “As part of our Streetspaces programme, and following extensive consultation, which is ongoing and runs alongside the implementation, changes to road access start on 24 January. Applications for exemptions can be made from 10 January and there is information on our website. The application process has information about the documents which are necessary for each individual circumstances.
“Blue Badge holders who need to access Chiswick School or are residents are able to apply for exemption.”
