A burst water this Wednesday afternoon caused traffic chaos as a river of water started to flow down Chiswick High Road.

The main is situated near the junction with Acton Lane and at one point caused the road surface to be covered with water from Heathfield Terrace to Burlington Road. Traffic tailbacks reached as far as Chiswick Roundabout.

Eyewitnesses report a metre high 'geyser' on the road outside the Centre 500 office complex.

The burst mains disrupted the water supply for many homes in Chiswick area and there were still reports of people with water on Friday.
