The previously announced lifting of access restrictions in the Grove Park area on Bank Holiday Monday (1 May) are no longer taking place.

Originally it was planned to not enforce the restrictions on turning into Hartington Road and Staveley Road from the A316 due to works taking place on the Grove Park Bridge.

However, Transport of London has now informed Hounslow Council that the work has been cancelled due to issues with getting permission from Network Rail.

This means that the northbound carriageway will not be closed as planned and access restrictions will be enforced on Monday as normal from 8am to 7pm.

The work to repair Grove Park Bridge, which carries the A316 Great Chertsey Road over the rail tracks, commenced on 21 April and will continue for six months.

Until early-October, work will be taking place on weekdays between 8am and 5pm. Most of the work will occur below the road level on the underside of the bridge and no impact on traffic is expected during the week.

There will be 17 days of 24 hour working at weekends during the project which will require the northbound lane of the A316 to be closed between 10pm and 6am and trains will not be able to travel under the bridge leading to the disruption of Hounslow Loop services on South Western Railway all day. Bus replacement services will operate to Barnes.

Traffic will continue to move in both directions on the A316 as contraflow traffic signals will operate.

The remaining 24-hour working days when there will be disruption on the rail and road will be:

30 April
6, 7, 8, 9, 25, 26 June
3 July
6, 7 August
23, 24, 30 September
1 October
