There will be emergency works this weekend to repair a major gas leak in the A316 Burlington Lane, Chiswick near the junction with Paxton Road. The works will extend well into the carriageway and Transport for London (the Highway Authority for the A316) has agreed that the road will be closed to southbound traffic whilst remaining open for northbound traffic.

The signed diversion route for southbound traffic will be along the TfL road network and will commence at the Hogarth Roundabout and continue west along the A4 to the Chiswick Roundabout from where traffic will be diverted down the A205 Chiswick High Road / Kew Bridge / Mortlake Road to rejoin the A316 at Chalker's Corner just south of Chiswick Bridge.

Obviously the diversion route is likely to be congested and we expect particularly heavy congestion around the junction of Kew Bridge Road and Kew Road at the north end of Kew Bridge. The works are scheduled to commence early on Saturday morning and likely to extend for most of the day on Sunday.
