Local band 'Where's Spike' has been shortlisted in XFM's current School of Rock Competition. The annual search for the best school rock band run by the radio station invites entries from bands across the capital.

Where's Spike is made up of Cameron, aged 12, and Scott and Joe, aged 11 making them the youngest entrants by quite a margin. Cameron's mother told ChiswickW4.com "Where's Spike (named after Cameron's 7 year old brother who attempts to muscle in on their rehearsals!) was immediately short listed to the final 10, and invited into the studios to play live and be interviewed on the Alex Zane show. They are the youngest band by far. The boys are all amazing musicians for their age; you can hear the track and see the video they submitted on the XFM website."

She continued"Voting begins on Friday 30th November, and only lasts 6 days, so please support these local boys! Prize money awarded is divided between each of the boys' schools for the purchase of music equipment."

The band formed a year ago when, following nationwide auditions held by the BBC, they successfully auditioned for the house band on the Saturday morning programme 'TMi'.

If the boys win, they will be opening Xfm's Winter Wonderland - in the past, the line-up has included Kasabian, The Kooks, Hard-Fi, The Fratellis, - and their schools will win £1000 worth of Yamaha musical equipment.

However, this year XFM have made a couple of changes to Rock School. This year the best 10 bands will get the chance to be the house band on the XFM breakfast show for a day. They'll be interviewed by Alex Zane, play live on the show and generally act like rock stars for the day.

Voting will commence online between 10am Friday 30th December 2007 to Midnight Wednesday 5th December 2007.
