Parents and children of Cavendish Primary School have successfully raised the funds necessary to buy stage lights for their school hall.

Cavendish Lighting Project involved two events - a children's sponsored walk in July of 5 miles, followed by a parent & teacher 60 mile bike ride to Brighton. These two events have raised approximately £3,800 and the school is very proud of the commitment and support from all those who helped make this project work.

The 'Cavendish Bikers' set off on Friday 22 September with a fantastic send off from the school and local community. The parents, staff, children and cyclists took part in a 15 minute warm up to music before the riders left to much cheering and applause.

This wonderful send off from the school, along with regular phone alerts informing them of additional donations throughout the day, really did help to kept their spirits high and their legs strong. The last 10 miles through the South Downs were certainly the most challenging part of the ride but they ploughed on, finally arriving in at the iconic i360 in Brighton at 6pm where they were met by supporting parents with a glass of well deserved fizz!

Cavendish Primary School would like to thank everyone who supported and donated to this project and hope to welcome you to the school Panto at the start of next year, which will be lit up with their wonderful new stage lights!
