Uncontrolled parent parking outside Strand on the Green School in Thames Road has led to complaints from local residents. The Strand on the Green Association has written to the school to ask them to take action with inconsiderate parents.

One said "I was walking past the school at 15:00 today and called parking control to ask them to send a warden down as cars were parked on the zebra cross and its zig zag also in the disabled bay outside the post office and on the yellow zig zags outside the school itself, not to mention the many parked over the local dropped kerbs.

"This is a continual school time problem – morning and evening"

The school has responded saying; "We work really hard to reduce the use of cars and also to respect our neighbours if parents do need to park.

"We will make a renewed effort as it is the start of term with our newsletters/ communication and our presence around the schools.

"We would welcome a warden to come and support us at pick up and drop off. it would really help to put people off parking so badly."
