Twenty two art students from Chiswick Community School have been offered the opportunity to design the official Christmas cards for Chiswick House & Gardens Trust.

The 17 year old students have been working in collaboration with nationally acclaimed artist Barry Martin, who is also the Artist in Residence at Chiswick House. Following a presentation on neo-Palladian architecture, the pupils visited the House before beginning on their designs. Head of Art at the school, Julie Herd said “The pupils have really enjoyed the project and have produced some really exciting work which is a credit to them and the School.”

The most suitable designs will be selected by a panel comprising members of the Trust and Barry Martin himself. All designs will be on display at an exhibition in Chiswick House in April next year.

Simrit Mann, Education Officer for the Trust said “This is a great opportunity for the children to show us their interpretation of the landscape of this wonderful historical site as well as experience being professional artists”.

The finished Christmas cards will be sent from the Trust to their supporters and professional colleagues and will also be on sale through Chiswick Community School and the CHGT Education Office.
