St Michael's Parish Hall was packed to the rafters on Sunday as members of Chiswick's community gathered to say their goodbyes to Mr and Mrs Mistry (known to many as Mr and Mrs Lad) from Lad's Newsagents at Bedford Corner.

"We had to spill into the church to let people in at the door, it was a great event," said Torin Douglas.

"Father Kevin said a few words about how much the couple had done for Bedford Park and how much they'd be missed before handing over a substantial cheque, raised from their collection, and a framed print of the famous "Bedford Park...healthiest place in the world" poster."

Mrs Mistry told ChiswickW4.com, "Firstly we would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for attending our wonderful send off on Sunday 19th December.

"We were deeply touched by the lovely cards and gifts we received. We have been overwhelmed by the generosity and support over the many years and we can't thank you all enough.

"It has been a great pleasure to be a part of the Bedford Park community which is why this had been a very difficult decision for us. We will miss you all. Best Wishes, Mr & Mrs Lad (Mistry)"
