A group of travellers set up an encampment on private land on Power Road in Chiswick this week.

The landlord posted an eviction notice at the site behind 250 Gunnersbury Avenue and the area was visited by the police and Hounslow Council officials on Friday (10 April).

Local councillor Jo Biddolph has been monitoring the situation and the group were reported to have left the following day.

It is not known if the traveller group has any guidance on the current health situation.

Last year Hounslow Council obtained a temporary injunction from the High Court which allows them to remove traveller encampments promptly from publicly owned land. In the case of privately owned land, it is up to the landlord to take action.

Last year there was a spate of incursions in Chiswick including on Chiswick Back Common, the Welstead Road car park and Gunnersbury Park, which had resulted from displacement from Ealing borough.
