Turnham Green Tube station has seen its seventh fatality over the last decade after a person was hit by a train at the station on Tuesday afternoon (20th November).

The incident occurred just before rush hour with the person being hit by a westbound Piccadilly line train.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson, “We were called at 4.47pm today to reports of a patient under a train at Turnham Green tube station.

“We sent a single responder in a car, an ambulance crew, a duty manager and our hazardous area response team to the scene.

“Sadly, the patient had died.”

People travelling home on District Line services were told that trains would not be stopping at Turnham Green due to an incident. A number of commuters told ChiswickW4.com that there was a heavy presence of police and ambulances at the station. The station reopened by 6.30 pm.

The authorities are not treating the death as suspicious.

Local people have been campaigning for some time for Piccadilly Line services to stop at Turnham Green station.
