Chiswick residents were treated to a fly past by the RAF’s acrobatic display team, the Red Arrows, this Bank Holiday Friday (8 May).

They flew in a v-formation over the area at around 10.14am as part of the celebrations to mark the 75th anniversary of VE Day. Shortly afterwards a two-minute silence was observed.

Viewing conditions were close to perfect and many locals had been forewarned of their arrival and had gone outside to watch them pass.

They reached Chiswick having left their base at RAF Scampton in Lincolnshire less than hal an hour earlier. Flying over East Anglia and then Essex they had passed over Buckingham Place before reaching W4 a few minutes later.

They then went out towards Windsor before turning home to land back at base within an hour of taking off.
