Three top local restaurants have announced that they are closing temporarily due to the current coronavirus crisis.

They made the decision before the government told cafes, clubs, theatres, gyms and restaurants to close this Friday evening.

Villa di Geggiano on Chiswick High Road has sent its customers the message 'Arrivederci, Amici' while informing them of the decision to temporarily stop serving. Originally their intention had been to continue serving until Mother's Day this Sunday.

The restaurant's management issued a statement which was a series of thank yous saying, "Firstly, thank you to our wonderful team at the Villa. We are so very proud of you and thankful that you have been such a brilliant crew. Supremely talented, kind to each other, and considerate to our customers, we couldn’t have found a nicer bunch. We appreciate all the things - great and small - that you do to bring to the Villa a warm and friendly atmosphere that our loyal clients come back for time and again.

"Which brings us onto the second thank you. We arrived in Chiswick as strangers, and now we feel like part of the family. Thank you to all our customers who have sent us wonderful messages of support. We couldn’t have done it without you, and because you have been so good to us, we will do everything we can to ensure that we come back just as committed to serving a community which we have come to love and respect.

"Finally, thank you to all our suppliers, and friends and family who have done so much to support us, the management of the Villa. "

La Trompette, in Devonshire Road has posted a notice that it is closed until further notice. Also closed are The Roebuck, and The Swan.

This Friday, Michael Nadra (below) announced that the two restaurants in Chiswick and Primrose Hill would be closing.

In a message to customers, Michael Nadra said: "This has not been an easy decision to make but I have to prioritise the safety of my amazing staff and customers. Together, we must do all we can to prevent the spread of this virus.

"It's really hard to have to do this but I appreciate your patience and understanding during this uncertain time, and a huge thanks to everyone that has been in touch to check in.

"Myself and my team will be right here when things get back to normal, but right now, we must stay safe and healthy.

"Look after yourselves and loved ones, and we look forward to celebrating when this is all over.

"On a lighter note, please keep an eye on our Facebook and Instagram for some new things we'll be trying out over the coming days/weeks!"

You can still order a glass or two of our wine. Villa di Geggiano have sufficient stock of their estate wine.

To order, please email Valeria@villadigeggiano.co.uk and come and collect any time between 10am and 5pm. For larger quantities, they can deliver locally. They always happy to have you toast a brighter, better future with a glass of Bandinello, Geggiano or Rosato.
