Homefield Road

We recently had a very constructive residents meeting with the local police neighbourhood team following concerns about recent crime issues. One issue raised was the poor street lighting especially at the High Road end of the road.

I asked LBH to conduct a review and here is their response

‘We are writing to you regarding your enquiry submitted to Councillor Todd about the lighting on Homefield Road.

Our Street Lighting Team has investigated your enquiry, and can advise that there is a known fault with a particular type of LED lantern in use across the borough. The majority of street lighting lanterns in use on Homefield Road are of this particular type.

Subsequently, we can confirm that there is a programme of works to have these particular LED Lanterns on the project network replaced, which will commence in the new year. This is a long term programme which is expected to take a number of years to complete, involving the replacement of approximately 7000 faulty lanterns across the borough, along with other lanterns that have major LED failures in them.’

I’m shortly meeting with the relevant Director to get this work prioritised.

Happy New Year!

Our Dog Rosie and her friend Wally are now back visiting children at this hospital. They visit all the Wards including intensive care.

Their presence is welcomed by the children, parents and staff alike and they enjoy going too.

Richard Jennings - A valued Community Member

Councillors are advised that they cannot intervene in Penalty Charge Notices (PCN) matters as they are ‘quasi- judicial matters’

Richard though can provide valuable guidance and advice on such matters without charge. His email address is ‘parking@rjen.uk’

It's been a bumper year for Richard’s hobby of helping people fight unfair Penalty Charge Notices.  It all started in 2007 when he received a PCN for parking outside his house.  Hounslow claimed that he had violated the suspension that his neighbours had organised in connection with their move away from Chiswick, but he was actually helping the neighbours on that day. Hounslow rejected two appeals, so Richard did more research and submitted a 4-page appeal to the adjudicators. Hounslow took one look at it and decided not to contest it.  Case won - PCN cancelled!

Richard started to use that experience to help others, and so far this year he has helped in a record 58 cases. He says he doesn't work miracles, but there are often obscure processes that can unlock difficult cases.  For example, if a PCN should have been posted to a driver but never arrived, the penalties can rapidly increase, but Richard can advise how to get a court in Northampton (Traffic Enforcement Centre) to wind back the excessive penalties and enable the PCN to be appealed. Users have advised me how thorough and helpful they found Richard.

Sincere thanks Richard for this valued public service.

No water for 60 days plus

An elderly resident in my Ward waited for a number of days before contacting me in desperation. She had no water supply because of a leaking pipe near the stopcock. A plumber couldn’t help because it was on the Thames Water side. She’d phoned TW but the phone cut out after a prescribed time

With the valued assistance of our Hounslow’s Council Community Solutions team TW eventually arrived and resolved the problem after two cancelled appointments.

Dukes Meadows Bridge

The bridge is finally finished. The opening is in early January.
