Transport for London is consulting on proposed changes to bus routes in West London as a result of Crossrail coming into Acton.

The main change in bus routes affecting Chiswick will be that of the 391 (Richmond to Hammersmith) and the 440. Route E3 will run less frequently- the Monday to Saturday daytime buses will be every 7 - 8 minutes. (Previously every 6 - 7 minutes).

Route 391 currently runs between Richmond and Fulham, Sand’s End serving Kew, Gunnersbury, Chiswick, Hammersmith Bus Station, Olympia, Fulham Broadway and Sand’s End. TfL says it currently suffers from poor reliability due to the large number of congested areas it serves. To help improve reliability, better match capacity to demand and create new links, they are proposing to restructure the route.

TfL proposes that the route run between Richmond and Hammersmith Bus Station and would no longer connect to Fulham. The frequency would be reduced to every 15 minutes Monday to Saturday daytime and every 20 minutes on Sunday and all evenings to better match capacity to demand.

The 440 would no longer serve Acton Green. Instead it would run directly between Chiswick Park station and Turnham Green church running via the southern end of Acton Lane, Chiswick High Road (Sainsbury’s) and Heathfield Terrace.

The 266 will become a night bus and no longer serve King Street during the daytime.

There will be changes to routes 95, 112, 120, 266, 391, 427, 440, E1, E5, E10 and H32. TfL is also proposing changes to routes 140, 223, 697, 698, including introducing new routes 218, 278, 306 and X140.

The consultation is open until September 17 2017.
