The popular curate at the Church of St Nicholas, Rev'd Andrew Downes, is leaving Chiswick with his family to take up a new position as Vicar in Sunbury-on-Thames.

Father Andrew organised the very popular Conversational Evensong series which welcomed a wide range of guests ranging from Holocaust survivor Eva Schloss to Baroness Rabbi Julia Neuberger.

His last Sunday at St. Nick's will be on 3rd April.

Father Andrew, who is married to Alice, and has three children, said he had "absolutely loved" his time in Chiswick.

He has been attached to St Nick's for nearly three years and he told Chiswickw4.com that he would miss many things about life in W4, including, "the people, life on the Mall, the beauty of the river and our many green spaces, the care and love on display in St Mary's Convent, the hustle and bustle of the High Road, our community and fellowship at St. Nicholas, the community at Fuller's Brewery and the contrast between busyness and space."

Father Andrew said he would be very sad to leave St. Nick's is many ways, "but God has exciting plans for me and Alice and the family down the A316 in Sunbury-on-Thames."

Everyone is very welcome to join Father Andrew at his Institution and Induction Service by the Bishop of Kensington and the Archdeacon of Middlesex, on Wednesday 4th May at 7.30pm in Sunbury.

Rev'd Eileen McGregor, currently on the clergy team at All Saints Fulham, and a Chiswick resident, will be moving across to the parish of St. Nicholas to work with the Vicar, Fr Simon Brandes in the spring. She is married to well-known Chiswick councillor Gerald McGregor.
