The owner of a staffie-type dog, which attacked another dog at Turnham Green last July was ordered to pay compensation and keep her dog on a lead and muzzle or else it would be destroyed.

She was convicted of having a dog dangerously out of control causing injury on 22 July this year and ordered by a judge at Willesden Court to pay compensation of £490 & costs of £200.

A Contingent destruction order was placed on the dog, stipulating that unless the dog, Poppy, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier Type Dog is to be kept under proper control and not be out in public unless on a 1.5m fixed lead & wearing a box style fixed muzzle. If the owner is found to be in breach, the dog will be destroyed.

A local resident said his aged Kerry Blue terrier was attacked by this dog while being walked next to Turnham Green church last July 22nd at 6.30 pm.

"Despite repeatedly asking the owner to get her dog under control the owner did nothing and her dog then leapt onto Woolly’s back and attempted to rip his throat open. It was a savage assault."

As his partner tried to help her dog, she was bitten by the attacking dog . Passers-by intervened & rushed her to the emergency vets at Chalkers Corner where Woolly was operated on, requiring approximately 42 stitches for the gash to his neck and other injuries. His partner required medical attention in hospital for bites to her lower arm.

The resident has warned parents of small children, if they see this small white female staffie named Poppy, to be aware that it must be muzzled and on a lead at all times.
