Late Bloomer sought for awards ceremony

A local celebrity or someone who has an inspirational story to tell about the role learning in adulthood has played in their life is being sought to present a major award.

Adult Learners’ Week, 10-16 May 2003, is the UK’s biggest festival of learning. Hounslow Adult & Community Education are once again organising many great educational and fun activities to help promote the joys of adult learning throughout the borough.

As part of this, they will be celebrating in great style the achievements of adult learners in the community by holding an annual ‘Achievement Awards Ceremony’ to be held on Wednesday 14th May 7.00pm - 9.00pm at the Hounslow Civic Centre. It promises to be a very enjoyable evening with meals music and refreshment provided.

The awards will recognise the achievements of around 60 students out of a possible 14,000 who have been dedicated to life long learning within London Borough of Hounslow.

If you feel you may be able to participate or know somebody who might be suitable contact Hounslow Council. All they will have to do is shake hands and give a very short speech about the part learning had played in their adult life.
