NEW APPLICATION TO DEMOLISH JOHN BULL

A new developer (Ravensbourne Property Investment Ltd) has applied to Hounslow Council to demolish the John Bull public house. The proposal is for a 5 storey office block with 20 parking spaces. There is no reference to the Singapore Airlines building but a possible reference to the existing houses on the corner of Silver Crescent and CHR. The plans are at Chiswick Library and the Hounslow planning reference is 00248/590/P4.

It is not known if the developer is connected with Clifton Cape who are attempting to build a thirty storey block opposite this site.

The West Chiswick and Gunnersbury Society are objecting on the grounds that they maintain that no building should be above 4 storeys and the façade of the John Bull should be retained.

Objections should be sent to:

Hounslow Planning Department
London Borough of Hounslow
Lampton Road
Hounslow
Middx TW3 4DN

Attn Ian Draper

Or e-mail planningcomments@hounslow.gov.uk You are advised to include your postal address so that issues such as light or impact can be assessed more easily.

The next public meeting of the Society will be on Wednesday 20th March 8pm at the Age Concern Hall Oxford Road North W4. They are organising a march against the over-development of West Chiswick. Starting at the War Memorial on Turnham Green and walking along Chiswick High Road to Power Road. The date is set for Saturday 20th April with more details to be given at the public meeting.
