Just days after dining with President Barack Obama, Chiswick based actor Colin Firth has been named in the Queen's Birthday Honours List.

He has been made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE). The award was for services to drama.

Earlier this year he was awarded an Oscar for his portrayal of the Queen's father in the King's Speech.

Other Chiswick locals honoured were Ms Clare Richards, Chief Executive Officer, The Clement James Centre for services to the community in North Kensington. Order of the Bath -

Michael Pownall who was Clerk of the Parliaments and Head
of the House of Lords Administration was made a Knight Commander of the Order of the Bath (KCB).
