Broadcaster and local resident Clare Balding has received an OBE in the Queen's Birthday honours list.

The citation states that she has received the award for services to broadcasting and journalism.

She was a hot tip for an award this year after presenting a documentary on the Queen's love of horse racing. Clare Balding's grandfather, father, and brother have all trained horses for the Queen.

The award follows a BAFTA which she received for her widely admired role in the BBC's Olympic coverage.

She is quoted as saying "It has been a year of unexpected delights. This is the pinnacle."

Another Chiswick recognised was Lewis Bronze CEO of Expresso Education. He received his award for services to education. Mr. Bronze has also received 2 BAFTA awards and prior to founding Espresso Education was Editor of BBC's Blue Peter.

Also awarded an OBE this year was Sister Brenda Wallace, who was until recently, headteacher at Gumley House School in Isleworth.
