Pete Reed the Olympic Rower who was given a golden post box outside Chiswick Town Hall for his exploits at the London Olympics has been given an OBE in the New Year's Honours list.

He has been recognised for being one of the men's eight that won rowing gold at Rio 2016.

The 35-year-old naval officer had previously been awarded the MBE in 2009.

He was part of the first British crew to win the men’s eight since 2000. He had already won gold in the Men's coxless four at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics.

If you or someone you know who lives in the Chiswick area was recognised in this year's list we'd like to make sure you get due recognition so please let us know at editor@chiswickw4.com.
