Chiswick may become the first place in the borough to have on-street electric vehicle charging points and parking bays.

However, a proposal to site one in Grove Park Terrace, has received an objection from one resident.

He complained to councillors about the proposed erection of an electric vehicle charging point on the pavement outside his house. He has off street parking and does not use an electric or a hybrid vehicle.

Councillors at last week's Chiswick Area Forum meeting agreed with the objections made by the resident.

They requested that officers prepare guidance for residents and councillors about the basis on which such decisions should be made.

As the use of electric vehicles increases, there is likely to be a demand for more public points for charging and parking electric vehicles. However, one local councillor said that it could be tricky installing them in residential streets if some residents did not want them situated outside their properties.
