Starting on Wednesday 28th September 2011 and over the following eight weeks, the Alpha course at Christ Church, Turnham Green provides the opportunity to ask these and other fundamental questions in a relaxed, informal and non-threatening environment.

Alpha is an opportunity to explore the meaning of life in an informal environment.

The Alpha course consists of a series of talks, looking at topics including 'Who is Jesus?' and 'Why and how do I pray?’ They meet for supper at 7.15pm and each talk is followed by discussion in small groups.

You don’t have to come to the whole course – just pop along for the first night and see what you think.

The Alpha course is designed primarily for people who aren't churchgoers and each course is open to everyone who would like to attend. Alpha is for everyone; no question is out of bounds and you are free to discuss as much or as little as you wish. They don’t assume any background knowledge of or belief in Christianity and everyone is welcome.

As a course, Alpha attracts a diverse range of guests of different ages and backgrounds, holding many different viewpoints. Guests do Alpha for a wide variety of reasons - some want to investigate whether God exists; others are concerned about what happens after death. Some people have particular questions that they would like to discuss; others want to understand other peoples' beliefs or would like to explore what the purpose of life is. Many guests have never been to church, others may have attended church occasionally but feel they have never really understood the basics of the Christian faith.
