Make the most of your Bank Holiday. Remember the deadline for entries to the Young People's Poetry Competition 2018 is in just one month's time: Monday 4 June.

Entries must be sent with the application form by post only not email.

Now in its eighth year, the Young People's Poetry Competition is free and open to children in Years 3-7 aged between 8-12 years.

Poems can be on any topic area: the only stipulations are that each poem should be the child's own work (with no parental help) and is limited to a maximum of 25 lines. Poems should be hand-written, although typed copies are acceptable for Year 6 & 7 entries and in special circumstance.

Young people are invited to write a poem at home, or at school, about whatever appeals to them.

You can enter via your school or individually by post (but please take a photocopy of your poem as entries cannot be posted back).

Poems can be on any topic up to a maximum of 25 lines and there are prizes awarded within each year group.
