As ITV prepares to serialise Vanity Fair (which opens in Chiswick Mall, where WM Thackeray went to school), the
Chiswick Book Festival and ChiswickW4.com want your help in finding the best-loved Chiswick writers and books.

There is no shortage of candidates. Chiswick was the home of, or setting for works by, Alexander Pope, WM Thackeray, WB Yeats, EM Forster, GK Chesterton, Patrick Hamilton, Ford Madox Ford, Harold Pinter, Anthony Burgess, John Osborne, Nancy Mitford, Dylan Thomas, Sir John Betjeman, Sir Arthur Pinero and, in the 21st century, Celia Brayfield, Mavis Cheek, Adele Parks, Bryan Appleyard and many more. And that’s just the novelists, poets and playwrights!

15 years ago, ChiswickW4.com was already recording the book launches, blue plaques and ‘top literary references’ to Chiswick.

Please let us know which writers, books, scenes and/or quotes you’d like to see in such a list today. (Fiction, plays and poetry only please).

Email your thoughts to admin@chiswickbookfestival.net and mark the subject box ‘Chiswick Writers’.

There’ll be prizes and the Festival will use the findings to help build its ‘Chiswick Timeline of Writers and Books’

Entries close on Sunday 2 September 2018. We look forward to receiving them. Here are some previous articles carried on chiswickw4.com
