This week, members of the Help for Heroes Band of Brothers and Band of Sisters enjoyed a relaxing cruise from Chiswick Pier to Westminster thanks to the Chiswick Pier Trust.

Those in attendance were welcomed with refreshments at the Pier House before making their way aboard for a one hour sightseeing cruise from Chiswick Pier to Westminster and back.

The Help for Heroes Band of Brothers offers lifelong support and opportunities to those men and women, both serving and non-serving, who have sustained career limiting/ending injuries or illness during or attributable to service since 2001, whilst the Band of Sisters is open to their loved ones, both male and female.

Veteran and Help for Heroes Ambassador Mark Taylor says, “It is really brilliant for members of the Help for Heroes Band of Brothers and Band of Sisters to be able to come along to events like this, socialise and share their experiences, and we are really grateful to the Chiswick Pier Trust for making it happen. It has been a great day despite the weather and was lovely to spend time with my family and see the sights of London from the dry of the boat!”

The Help for Heroes Band of Brothers and Band of Sisters memberships provide the chance to get in touch with other people who have shared experiences of being injured and of what it is like to care for their nearest and dearest, giving them the opportunity to support each other through the days ahead.

Help for Heroes Band of Sister Member Pam Garland whose son is currently serving, joined the cruise with her brother, who is local to Chiswick. Pam said of the cruise ,

By donating the cruise to Help for Heroes today, the Chiswick Pier Trust has facilitated a wonderful experience and opportunity for members to come together to relax, share and enjoy one another's company.

Chiswick Pier Trust Chair of Trustees Sarah Hodgson said, “We are delighted this wonderful Band of Brothers and Sisters came here for a morning out on the river. Some have travelled from as far as Lincolnshire and Southampton to come to Chiswick Pier for our cruise and it was a great pleasure and a privilege to meet them.”
